EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique
What is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) often referred to as 'tapping', is a holistic healing method that blends elements of traditional Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. By tapping gently on specific meridian points on the face and body while focusing on emotional challenges, EFT aims to release blockages in the body's energy system and restore emotional balance.
Originally developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, EFT is grounded in the belief that emotional distress contributes to physical symptoms and mental health struggles. By addressing these root causes, EFT offers a non-invasive and natural approach to healing.
How Can EFT Help?
EFT has been used to support a wide range of emotional and physical issues. These include:
Stress and anxiety: Tapping can calm the nervous system and reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels
Trauma and PTSD: EFT is increasingly used in trauma recovery, helping individuals process difficult memories gently
Phobias and fears: Whether it's fear of flying or public speaking, EFT can help diminish emotional triggers
Chronic pain: By addressing the emotional component of pain, many people find physical relief
Self-esteem and confidence: Tapping can help clear limiting beliefs and promote a more positive self-image
Many users report noticeable shifts in how they think and feel - often within just a few sessions. While results can vary, EFT is generally considered safe and suitable for all ages.
What happens during the session?
An EFT session typically lasts between 60 minutes to an hour and is either conducted in person or online. Here is what you can expect:
Initial Discussion: The practitioner begins by asking about the issue you would like to address, this could be an emotional challenge, physical symptom, or specific event
Identifying the Core Emotion: Together, you will identify the feelings or beliefs tied to the problem. This helps target the tapping more effectively
Tapping Process: The practitioner guides you through a series of tapping points - usually on the face, collarbone, and hands, while you repeat specific phrases that focus on the issue
Re-evaluation: After a few rounds, you will pause to notice any changes in emotion, intensity, or physical sensation. This process may be repeated to uncover deeper layers
Closure: The session often ends with calming or empowering statements to help anchor the positive shift and bring closure.
EFT sessions are highly personalized and adapted to each individual’s needs. Most people report feeling calmer, clearer, and more emotionally balanced afterward.
