About Me and my Practice
I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can take time to focus on yourself and what you need, and feel supported and understood. Therapy is tailored to you, working collaboratively at your pace and shaped by your goals, whether you are seeking relief from distress, greater self-understanding, or healing from past experiences.
I offer flexibility, continuity, and a personalised therapeutic relationship, supporting meaningful and lasting change, whether you are looking for longer-term therapy or more focused work. While I work with individuals from many different backgrounds and life experiences, my main area of expertise is supporting women in healing from trauma, whether related to a single event or more complex, long-term experiences, including developmental trauma.
How I can Help
Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially when past experiences continue to affect how you feel, think, or relate to others. You don’t have to face these challenges alone. Therapy offers a supportive space where you can explore what’s happening for you, feel understood, and begin to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
As a BACP-accredited therapist, I offer an integrative approach using Psychodynamic Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing). Psychodynamic Counselling helps you explore thoughts, feelings, and past experiences to gain deeper insight and understanding, creating meaningful and lasting change. EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that can help reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories (amongst other things) and support healing in a safe and contained way.
I am am an experienced, fully accredited therapist with over 30 years’ experience in mental health care. My professional journey began in 1988 as a mental health nurse, where I worked in forensic psychiatry with both men and women. This extensive background allows me to offer thoughtful, grounded support, even when difficulties feel complex or deeply rooted.
Over the past nine years, I have worked extensively in the voluntary sector, including within a Domestic Abuse Charity and a Rape Crisis Centre. During this time, I specialised in supporting women who have experienced trauma, including complex and long-standing trauma. I understand how these experiences can shape emotions, relationships, and self-worth, and I work at your pace, with care and sensitivity.
Whether you’re looking for longer-term therapeutic support or a more focused approach, I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and supported. Together, we can work toward healing, resilience, and a renewed sense of hope for the future.
The First Session
I offer a free 15-minute phone call before we meet for the first time. The first in-person session is an opportunity to get to know you and to explore together whether we are a good therapeutic fit, as finding the right therapist is an important part of the process.
