About Su
Su Bowler is a kind and caring yoga teacher, with her teaching firmly rooted in yoga philosophy and Ayurveda. She is skilled in teaching yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, restorative yoga and yoga nidra.Su’s yoga journey started with meditation and yoga nidra, and she then became more serious about her physical yoga practice after a running-related knee injury when she found that yoga helped her regain strength and flexibility.
A few years later she started attending Viniyoga classes and learning more about the rich philosophy at the heart of the yoga tradition. Viniyoga continues to be a source of inspiration for her approach to teaching today and Su’s classes focus on the needs of the individual students, with slow paced movement co-ordinated with the breath.
Su started her journey to become a yoga teacher with a Viniyoga foundation course then completing a 300 hour Ayurvedic yoga teaching certificate with the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY), and then achieving her 500 hour teaching diploma with the BWY.
Su is passionate about learning and developing her knowledge and skills to deepen her own understanding of yoga and Ayurveda and share this with her students. She has completed additional courses in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Menopause Yoga, and the BWY Gentle Years chair-based yoga. She has a particular interest in yoga for stress reduction.
Ayurvedic Yoga Class
Tuesdays 7:45-8:45pm
An Ayurvedic yoga class, inspired by the Viniyoga tradition.
Ayurveda, which translates as the knowledge of life, is the ancient Indian system of health often described as the sister science to yoga. Su weaves Ayurveda and yoga philosophy into each class to support your health and wellbeing on and off the mat.
The posture practice is slow paced, co-ordinating breath and movement, with modifications offered. Classes also include pranayama breathing practices and relaxation, so you leave feeling calm and relaxed.
If you have any questions you are welcome to contact Su directly on hello@adurvalleyyoga.co.uk
