Counselling Team
Counselling
Counselling offers a safe, confidental, non-judgemental environment to talk through challenges and problems. People seek counselling for many different reasons, at different times in their life. Current and unresolved issues can cause pain and confusion. At difficult times, a trained counsellor can offer valuable help and support to understand ourselves better, discover our inner resources, and find a positive way forward.
A Person-Centred Approach
Carl Rogers, the founder of the Person Centered Approach, held the view that, "Counselling is to provide an opportunity for a client to work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way."
To this aim the counsellor will not tell you what to do, rather will work with you in addressing your concerns and where appropriate, will provide encouragement and - where helpful - gentle challenge to enable change.
A counsellor will offer you a real sense of being heard, understood and validated. This support helps in gaining clarity and encourages personal growth
