Marek is one of the most well-known and longest established practitioners in the Brighton/Hove/Lewes area. The hallmark of Marek’s eclectic practice is his ability to synthesise the three areas of his extensive training: acupuncture, applied kinesiology and nutrition into a seamless whole.
His initial training was in the mid 1970’s in Shiatsu (Japanese acupressure), Swedish massage and reflexology but gained his license to practise as an acupuncturist in 1979 having studied with J.R. Worsley, one of the early pioneers of acupuncture in the UK. He did further training, gaining his BAc in 1983 and his MAc in 1987. He used this 5 Element style of acupuncture for 18 years before deepening his understanding of East Asian medicine by studying several styles of Japanese acupuncture in the UK. Holland and the US. Marek now practises five different styles of acupuncture and has patients as young as a few months and some in their 90’s
Alongside acupuncture, Marek also uses Applied Kinesiology, which he began studying in 1980, and since then has become a highly respected teacher and lecturer on the subject. He has co-taught alongside Robert Tisserand (author of the Art of Aromatherapy), devised an advanced training for the kinesiology practitioners and has lectured on the subject at a number of well-known acupuncture colleges. He is a member of the International College of Applied Kinesiology UK and continues to do further advanced training with them.
The third aspect of Marek’s practice is the use of nutritional therapy. He recommends the appropriate use of supplements, mineral hair analysis, dietary changes and food intolerance tests. He is particularly interested in endocrine(thyroid etc) problems.
Marek has more recently completed an MA in Voice Studies at the internationally famous Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He integrates aspects of voice work into his sessions where helpful.
